Spring Break is just around the corner. Some of you will have spring break next week and other districts will enjoy their week off after that. This list of activities will give you plenty of ideas for things to do in Arizona for the rest of the month. And, make sure you read to the end of the post for a Pogo Pass giveaway!

Go hiking. The weather is perfect, take advantage of it while you can. Check out our list of 16 Kid-Friendly (and Pet-Friendly) Hikes in the Phoenix Area.
Find an event at your local mountain park. Try Usery Park, McDowell Mountain, or Lost Dutchman State Park as a start. Generally, all activities are free with a small fee per car for admission into the park. Some examples include movie night in the park, archery lessons, wildflower walks, and more.
Explore another city. We are from the East Valley and had a fun time visiting Glendale as a little excursion. Read our list of things to do in Glendale here.
Visit a new park. A simple outing to the park is more exciting when you drive a little farther and visit a new or less-visited park. Here are a few suggestions for some of the best parks in the Valley:
- McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park (Scottsdale) - Lots of fun, make sure to bring some money for the train and carousel rides. The model railway building is amazing to see and free. http://www.therailroadpark.com/
- Riverview Park (Mesa) - Pretty much the coolest park in Arizona. Likely to be quite crowded for Spring Break, but tons of fun.
- Red Mountain Park (East Mesa) - Some cool play structures here as well as desert walking paths.
- Freestone (Gilbert) -Bring money to ride the train and other mini rides.
- Fountain Park (Fountain Hills) - This is a fun park to travel to with a picnic. Kids can play on the playground and watch the huge fountain go off every hour on the hour.
Catch a spring training game. Tickets are available at fields across the Valley and start at just $9 - $10 for lawn tickets and more for stadium seating. http://www.cactusleague.com/tickets-stadiums
Visit Ikea Tempe. There are even a few free activities for kids as well as the play area.

March 7: Exclusively Little at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park (Scottsdale) from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Free event for children six years and younger. Activities include game booths, bounce houses, face painting, petting zoo, health demonstrations and entertainment. Kids can bring their favorite stuffed animal for a contest. March 7 - 8: My Nana's Salsa Challenge (Phoenix) Steele Indian School Park.
This event involves over 70 booths of homemade salsa. For one price, entry includes all-you-can-eat. It is pretty much our dream come true and one festival we never miss. Festival also includes a kid zone ($2 each child), vendors, margarita contest, 5K run, and more. Bring a few dollars if you'd like to vote for your favorite salsas. Proceeds benefit the Arizona Hemophila Association. http://salsachallenge.com/
March 6 - 7: Lehi Days Rodeo (Mesa). Small family rodeo for all ages. Includes a petting zoo, food vendors, pony rides, and more. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Lehi-Days-Rodeo/258748277539489
March 8: Gateway Aviation Day. 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. This free event includes up-close aircraft displays, family friendly activities, kids zone, theater performances and other entertainment, and food vendors. Admission and parking are free. March 13: 2nd Friday Night Out (Mesa) 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM on Main Street from Center to Country Club. This month's theme is Cosplay on Main and will include lots of fun costumes and characters. Food, entertainment, street vendors, etc. http://2ndfridaynightout.com/
March 14-15: Tombstone Wild West Days (Tombstone). Festivities include a parade and other entertainment.http://www.tombstoneweb.com/events.html
March 18 - 21: Spark! Festival (Mesa). Mesa Arts Center. (Wed and Thurs Noon - 5:00 PM; Fri and Sat NOON - 10:00 PM). Interactive art projects for adults and kids, theater and musical performances, storytelling, dancing, food trucks, and studio classes for just $5 each. All activities are free except studio sampler classes. Spark! After Dark will extend the festival to 10:00 PM on Friday and Saturday evenings with night-time festivities, Saturday fireworks, live music & more. http://www.mesaartscenter.com/spark

March 27 - 29: McDowell Mountain Music Festival (Phoenix). Lots of live music, Kids' Zone, and vendors. Tickets are $60/day or $165 for the weekend. http://mmmf.com/
March 25 - April 4. Mesa Easter Pageant. LDS Temple grounds, 525 E. Main in Mesa. Live performances of the Easter story start March 25th and run most nights through April 4th including a Spanish performance. Check website for exact dates. The performances begin at 8:00 PM and last about 65 minutes. Expect a crowd, so arrive early, and bring a picnic and treats to enjoy. The performance is free and donations are not accepted. http://www.easterpageant.org/
